Wells for Life® was the result of a burden God put on my heart while I was in southern India. During this trip, I had the opportunity to participate in the dedication of a water well located just a short walk outside of a rural village experiencing sickness and disease due to a lack of safe drinking water. As you might imagine, the impact the well provided to that village was immediate as well as life-changing for every person. As I stood there and observed the ceremony, what I saw on the faces of the Indians was quite moving. I could see and sense their joy and happiness—all because someone cared enough to provide money to ensure these people would be provided with one of the basic necessities of life: water.

As I was walking down the dirt road to the vehicle I was traveling in, I reflected on what I had just seen and participated in. About 20 minutes later I was in another rural village listening to the village leader share how his village was suffering from sickness and disease due to a lack of clean water and how they had to use a small pond about a stone's throw from the road for their cooking, drinking, and yes, bathing and cleaning.

As I listened to this man speak I felt compelled to do something about this critical need and so I made a personal commitment to that village that they would receive a water bore well. On the long ride back to my sleeping quarters I began to envision an organization that would raise awareness of India's need for safe, clean water along with the necessary funds to carry out fresh water projects throughout India.

Over the months that have passed since that day, the dream has become a reality and the burden within my heart for water wells in India continues to grow. Thus, the beginning of Wells for Life® as a nonprofit charitable organization, which has as its mission the provision of clean, safe drinking water to rural villages and communities in need.
